Asia’s largest slum “Dharavi” reported the first case of coronavirus.
A positive case of Coronavirus has been reported from Asia's largest slum which is situated in Mumbai. A 56-year-old man from Dharavi has reportedly died from Coronavirus who is being treated in Sion Hospital. The Victim was a resident of Dr. Baliga Nagar Society and also owned a Garments Shop in the area.
Also, he has no travel history and reports of the victim's family members and building members are awaited.
All the 300 Flats in the society and 90 shops which are nearby the society have been sealed by the authorities. No one is allowed to come outside their houses and the Govt started providing food and other necessities to the residents. Authorities have quarantined all those who had come in contact with the victim.
There are 437 new cases of COVID 19 reported in the last 24 hours and the total number of cases rises to 1834 in India. 41 people lost their lives due to this pandemic. The union health ministry said that this spike in cases is due to those who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation.
